Welcome to the website of the Saint Mary’s Catholic Church of San Antonio. The site will provide you with information you may need to get to know our parish, its staff, services and different ministries practiced here.
We are a family-like community with rich diversity in culture, but one in the faith, liturgy and social activities. We seek to be more vibrant and effective in proclaiming the Word of God. We joyfully celebrate communal prayers and worship, especially the Holy Eucharist with utmost reverence and devotion.
Our parish is historic, the second oldest in San Antonio after San Fernando Cathedral, and the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate who serve here have been shepherding God’s people in this location for over 130 years. The church, a jewel of great beauty in the central downtown setting, was built almost 90 years ago, but much of what is happening here is vibrant, fresh, and new.
Heavenly Father, thank You for this day and for the ability to do the work that I will take on today. I know that I accomplish nothing without Your grace, and I trust that You will sustain me in all I do. If You are not with me in this work, then it will profit me nothing; nevertheless, I know that because I surrender my works to You, You will be with me in all I do, in my successes and in my failures. I ask that You grant me peace to begin this day ready to respond to Your Most Holy Will and ready to love every person You have set in my path.
St. Joseph the Worker, prayer for us.
Our Lady Immaculate, pray for us.
Amen.
Holy Mass Schedule Effective July 5, 2020
As we continue to face the challenges that come with trying to stay safe and healthy during the carona virus, many churches throughout the country have begun reducing the number of scheduled weekend Masses.
I have tried to keep our regular schedule going for the past few weeks, I’m realizing that we just do not have the attendance that would warrant continuing. In addition, having our AC running for several hours on Sunday comes with cost that we can longer afford to incur.
Beginning Sunday July 5th we will be combining the 8am & 10am Masses into a single Mass that will be scheduled at 9am.
I want to thank you all in advance for your cooperation in this matter.
Once things return to normal, we will once again consider returning to our regular mass schedule.
Blessings
Fr John
